Dove Cameron's Fans Quoted Her Own Tweets to Her When She Opened Up About Feeling Overwhelmed

Posted by [email protected] on Comments comments (0)

There is no doubt Dove Cameron’s fans are some of the most supportive out there. Back in December, when the actor had to take a break from playing Cher Horowitz in Clueless, the Musical due to health complications, they flooded her mentions with love and support and now, they are doing the same after the Descendants star opened up about dealing with negativity on her social media — but this time they're showing their support with her own words.

When a fan asked her on Twitter how she was doing, Dove was candid in her response, writing “I'm ok. a little overwhelmed by negativity lately, if i’m honest. i’m in a phase where it seems like it’s everywhere. i never like to say things like that because it doesn’t actively HELP anyone or anything. but...yeah. i don’t feel very free right now. i’ll figure it out.”

As expected, Dove’s fans were quick to buck up the actor's spirits, showering her with affection. And some did it in the most meta of ways — by sharing the actor’s words of wisdom and encouragement right back at her.

“Here is some advice from someone i know, i hope it helps,” one fan tweeted together with screenshots from some of Dove’s tweets from 2018 that tackled negativity and anxiety. “Here to remind you: if you give 100% of your energy, to every person you run across, all day, every time, you will most likely be an anxious, shaky mess by the end of your days. you are always allowed to prioritize down time, to give calm responses, to save some you for you,” one of Dove’s original tweets read.

A fan account even heartwarmingly prompted the actor to remember her own guidance. “Dovey look remember,” they posted with a screenshot of one of Dove’s tweets. “Do your best to not speak negatively of others, of life, of any given situation, & especially, do your best to not speak negatively of yourself. it’s hard at first, but it gets easier. i am not perfect at it, but it does make a difference for my anxiety and my noise in my mind,” Dove’s premonitory counseling read.

Another fan went the more direct route, sharing with Dove’s own advice as to what she does to take her mind off things. “Yo maybe you should meditate,” they tweeted referencing another one of Dove’s old tweets.

This isn’t the first time Dove has spoken out about her struggles with negativity. Back in December, she tweeted, “Social media CREATES a lot of negative thinking and makes people more desensitized to others and how cruel they are being. It objectifies people and creates competition and self hate and nastiness."

That tweet came just days before she announced she was planning to take a break from social media herself. "My anxiety is at an all time high & i haven’t been the best version of myself the last few days. I think i’m going to try to take a social media break. just a few days. to see if it helps. i love you all so much! truly, from the purest part of my heart. thank you for everything," she wrote back then.

While the artist has not disclosed whether she intends to venture on another social media break or whether the negativity she’s dealing with is anxiety-inducing, it’s safe to safe her fans will have her back no matter what.

Blake Lively Style 101: How to Get Her Fierce and Fearless Look

Posted by [email protected] on Comments comments (0)
how to dress like blake lively

Pacific Coast News

A while back, we listed our favorite celebrity fashion icons, and over the next few months, we'll be breaking down each celebrity's style in depth and showing you how to get her style for yourself. Today, we're showing you how to get Blake Lively's style.

Blake Lively is a timeless beauty, known for many roles on the silver screen. In anything and everything she does, she mixes classic femininity with boldness, and this is reflected in her style.

Thanks for watching!Visit Website

But before we dive into her closet, let's take a peek into the life of the blonde bombshell herself.

Early Life

Blake Lively, born Blake Brown, comes from a family of entertainers in California. Her mother, Elaine, worked as a talent agent, while her father Ernie was an actor.

Blake got her career kicked off with a starring role in The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants, and her beautiful golden locks and velvety voice have appeared in The Shallows, The Age of Adaline, and most famously as the elegant and beautiful Serena van der Woodsen in Gossip Girl. However, the role that changed her life was in The Green Lantern, where she met Ryan Reynolds.

Hollywood’s Golden Couple

Blake Lively met hilarious hunk Ryan Reynolds while filming The Green Lantern, but both were in other relationships at the time. (Ryan was married to Scarlett Johansson!) However, after spending time together on set, both ended their other relations and were spotted together months later. And to top it off, after just 13 months of dating, the couple tied the knot!

Blake commented on the relationship, saying:

"I knew he would always be my best friend for my whole life. That was the biggest thing to me. I'd never known anything like the friendship that I had with him. I could like him as much as I loved him."

And does Ryan gush about his wife as well? You bet. During his acceptance speech of his star on Hollywood Walk of Fame, he said:

“I want to thank my wife, Blake, who is sitting right there, who is everything to me. You are the best thing that has ever happened to me. You make everything better. You make everything in my life better. You've given me two of the most incredible children I've ever hoped to have."

And while the couple can’t keep their eyes off one another and are clearly one of the strongest couples is Hollywood, they are also most known for trolling each other on social media.

Whether it be commenting on each other’s appearance, showing approval or acceptance for winning awards, or just showing the love in the best way possible, the couple are clearly on top of their lovingly joking games.

How to Dress Like Blake Lively

If there’s one thing Blake is better at than messing with her husband, Ryan, it’s being a fashion icon for millennials everywhere. However, because of her own unique style, all of the looks I’ve analyzed and replicated include only the basics.

Take a closer examination of Blake’s jewelry and bag choices, makeup designs, and hairstyles, as they are just as essential to her style than the clothing articles themselves.

Velvet Dream

Blake looks stunning and joyful as usual as she steps onto the street in a showstopping look. What makes this outfit so Blake is the way it works for her tall and confident body type.

Her long legs work wonders in this velvet pantsuit combination, and the incredible low plunge reaches all the way to her belt. The deep navy/teal color melts perfectly under the rich chocolate burgundy jacket, and everything about it is beautiful and unique.

Products: Shoes- (WithChic), Pants- (Shein), Jacket- (Romwe)

Although this is one of the things only Blake can truly rock, you can instantly find yourself feeling like a movie star in these high-waisted and beautifully belted velvet pants, a rich maroon suit jacket, and studded nude heels.

When it comes to things such as the rather plain and athletic-looking bag and jewelry, make the look uniquely yours by adding your own accessories.

Business Glam

This is the perfect example to show how Blake Lively can transform into so many different styles. In this sultry pose, Blake has a casual jacket thrown over her shoulders and a hand in the pocket of comfy looking yet very professional pants.

And check out those kicks! Custom made for sure, the purple rhinestones completely transform this everyday gray business look into something fabulous.

Products: Shoes- (River Island), Pants- (Mango), Jacket- (Uniqlo)

Recreate this look by starting with the most important part: the fancy loafers. I love these grey checkered River Island shoes, especially with the pink faux fur details. Next, spice the look up a little more with printed or plain high-waisted comfy pants and a cozy wool jacket. You can play around with the dark eye makeup and low bun like Blake, or take a more casual approach.

Fall Funk

In my personal favorite look of Blake’s, the queen somehow manages to pull off a seemingly unusual collection. Taking a closer examination at the details of this look, Blake begins with a one-of-a-kind denim tie dress with a plunging neckline. The collar on that baby is POPPING!

Next, check out another classic Blake move with the burgundy shiny jacket perched on her shoulders. Moving down, Blake pairs an incredible pair of printed boots with a regal-looking clutch, and carries on in her queenly manner on the streets.

Products: Shoes- (Milanoo), Bag- (Michael Kors), Earrings- (J. Crew), Dress- (Walmart), Jacket- (BerryLook)

Get a look similar to this by finding a fit-and-flare denim or denim-appearing dress. The collar and the waist tie will really make this look. Even though Blake’s original outfit didn’t have snakeskin print, this pattern looks really well with this funky fall vibe and the original colors.

Blake wears her hair back and rocks a light red lip, as well as a pair of tasseled earrings, so be sure to do the same.

Peaches and Cream

In this final feminine look, Blake takes a classic approach with a colorful and summery ankle length skirt. Pairing it with a plain, tucked-in tee to emphasis the skirt even more, she finished the outfit with a similarly-colored heel, minimal makeup, and a high-teased pony.

Products: Shoes- (Macy's), Skirt- (H&M), Top- (Madewell)

Get this simple yet chic look by finding a light, floral print skirt--preferably one in a longer length. The heels can be basic or fab, based on your personal style, and use any plain tee to top it off.

Tell us what you think!

Lively has been ruling the fashion world for years, and her timeless style will continue to influence young designers and admirers for many more.

Do you agree with Blake's radical style choices? Share your favorite looks or pieces that she's worn in the comments below!

Vanessa and Laura Marano Open Up About Their New Movie "Saving Zoe" and Play "I Dare You"

Posted by [email protected] on Comments comments (0)

Vanessa Marano and Laura Marano know a little something about being patient with your dreams.

Back in 2008, the sisters were young teenagers trying to get their budding careers off the ground. Vanessa was filming the movie adaptation of iconic young adult series The Clique in Rhode Island, where she was accompanied by Laura and her mom. As a writer’s strike loomed, their mother Ellen decided it was time to take their careers into their own hands. So she purchased a handful of young adult books that had teen girls on the covers and handed them out to Laura and Vanessa to read and see if one seemed like movie potential.

Laura emerged with a winner: Saving Zoe by Alyson Noël. On Laura’s recommendation, Vanessa and her mom read the novel — soon, they had purchased the film rights and made it a family project. Then came the inevitable production delays, the workshopping, the filming back a couple of years ago, and then more time waiting for distribution.

Now, on July 12, the Maranos’ movie Saving Zoe is officially available for fans to watch.

“Ten years later, we finally got it made,” Laura tells Teen Vogue. Vanessa adds, “Man, does it feel like super rewarding right now. We kind of went up against all odds and got something made — something that we're really passionate about, that we feel has a message we really want to share to the world.”

In the film, Vanessa, 26, plays the titular Zoe, a high-schooler and aspiring model who is murdered under mysterious circumstances. Laura, 23, plays her younger sister Echo, a high school freshman trying to find out who she is in the midst of grieving Zoe and trying to uncover the truth around both her death and her life. Over the course of the movie, they come to understand each other through flashbacks and Zoe’s semi-ghostly appearances.

Both Laura and Vanessa made their production debut on Saving Zoe along with their mom. That meant that in addition to acting, they also had a hand in just about every part of making the movie happen, from scheduling stunt doubles to finding hotels for the team. “Literally all three of us were not sleeping,” Laura says. “[We were] working as hard as we possibly could.”

Though Saving Zoe has been a decade-long process, the two sisters have spent the intervening years building their separate careers. Vanessa starred in Freeform’s Switched at Birth from 2011 until its end in 2017, in addition to reprising her role as April in Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life. Meanwhile, Laura starred in Disney Channel’s Austin & Ally from 2011 to 2016, before appearing in the Oscar-nominated Lady Bird and, most recently, starring alongside Noah Centineo in the Netflix rom-com The Perfect Date.

Though they collaborated on Saving Zoe, each woman has enjoyed forging her own acting path. Next up, Laura will star in the Christmas-themed iteration of A Cinderella Story (Gregg Sulkin is playing her love interest) and according to IMDb will be in Pitch Perfect 4. Vanessa, meanwhile, is focused on indie movies, including a forthcoming project with brother duo David Henrie and Lorenzo Henrie and a new thriller Confessional with Paris Berelc and Marcus Scribner.

“We have our own identity within the industry, which is really nice,” Vanessa says. “What's also great about that is when we do actually team up for a project, we're that much stronger together.” Laura adds, “It wasn't really [ever] like, 'Oh, I'm comparing my career to Vanessa's or I don't think Vanessa's compares to mine.’ We had our own thing. We know there are ups and downs in both.”

The Headache Manicure

Posted by [email protected] on Comments comments (0)

pinkandgoldfoil_05

Guys…I am on a huge gold foil kick right now.  I know this piece of nail art decor has been around forever, but I’m just now fully appreciating it, thanks to some of my favorite account on Instagram that utilize it so beautifully in their manicures – @wetpaint_bykat, @raechelsnails, and @nailsbycanishiea just to name a few!  For this particular mani, I pulled a few old China Glaze jellies out of the Helmers and got a little carried away with the water spotting technique.  Why am I calling this The Headache Manicure?  Read on…

pinkandgoldfoil_01

To create a “water spot” manicure, you place drops of polish on the surface of a cup of water and carefully spray the spread out polish with some kind of liquid containing alcohol.  People commonly use a spray-on hand sanitizer.  This creates the “spots” and then you dip your finger in.  I knew I wanted to layer two shades of water spotting on each nail…and I also knew I didn’t have any spray-on hand sanitizer, so I grabbed the only other thing in my office that I knew had some alcohol in it: a bottle of Britney Spears Fantasy perfume.

That I proceeded to spray probably 200 times to complete this look on all 10 nails.

And gave myself a massive headache.  Was it worth it for the finished look!?  You be the judge!  Personally, I loved it!

I started with a base of OPI Infinite Shine Bubble Bath just to cover any staining and imperfections.  Then, as described above, I water spotted with China Glaze In The Near Fuchsia and China Glaze About Layin’ Out, which are both jellies.  This created a really cool squishy look.  I added piece of gold foil and top coated a few times with KBShimmer Clearly On Top to seal everything in smooth.

Mmmm yes please!  I have been wearing my nail art manicures for a much longer period of time than I used to (thank you, motherhood), so I have been putting a little more time and effort into them so that I enjoy them for the 7-10 days I spend with them.  I can honestly say, I never got sick of this one! Worth the headache?  Let me know in the comments!

Shop Revelry Bridal Collection

So you’ve said yes—CONGRATS! That’s huge, that’s monumental…that’s you and your best friend saying yes to a lifetime together, and to mark the special occasion, you want to don the *perfect* dress. But there are a few more ‘yeses’ that need to be said… and they come in the form of finding THE GOWN + the dresses for your gal pals! Yep, those yeses. ;) You’re after something flattering, with fabric that feels soft to the touch, and is a style that will let you boogie all night long, right? Well, my friends, that is where the Shop Revelry steps in!

The Austin-based online bridesmaid boutique is known for its affordable and fun dresses + separates (perfect for mixing and matching). And today, we’re thrilled to announce that Michelle DeLoach, the founder of Revelry, is shaking things up and officially launching a bridal collection! Having been in the industry for the past 10 years, Michelle knows what’s up when it comes to dress design (along with creating chic pieces that don’t break the bank!). Revelry’s collection offers sizes of 0-24, and the prices range from $850-$2250. Yeah, our jaws about dropped when we saw that.

But just you wait, there’s a lot more jaw dropping to come when you see these designs! Let’s look!

Blush Hues + Pretty Purples for Your Gals

Shop Revelry Collection

One of the coolest things about Shop Revelry is that they offer samples to try on in the comfort of your home—and we’re talking both wedding dresses + gowns for the bridesmaids! Picture it: just you, your best friends, some gorgeous gowns to dress up in…and maybe a bottle of bubbly (or two!).

When you request a bridal sample, you can try on the dress in your size + with the color lining you’re after. Basically they’re taking out all the guesswork of finding the right fit, size + color! The ‘Sample Box’ includes measuring tapes, fabric, and skin tone illusion swatches. Talk about a revolution in the bridal gown shopping experience, right?

The sample box can be ordered with both bridal + bridesmaid samples. You have three days to try on the gowns, rather than just one hour in a boutique! We really think this is wonderful so you can go back and try it on with different accessories and see it in different light. Gather up your gals to get their opinion, play with different gems and jewels, and find the perfect color lining + illusion skin tone swatch—all in the comfort of your home. (Essentially, we envision playing dress up, finding THE GOWNS, changing in to pajamas + pouring a glass of rosé before calling it a day.)

All you need to do is have a Try-On Party! (Here’s an example Try-On Party + tips on how to host your own here!)

One thing that was super important to Michelle when designing this line was something that is sort of hidden, but makes a major impact…we’re talking about illusion lace and slips in 5 different skin tone options! When you order your gown, you get the select the size, length, lining color…and the illusion color! It’s alllll in the details.

LOVIN’ that blue ombré created with these tulle gowns.

Shop Revelry Collection

So, we were curious as to how Michelle got into the bridal industry + designing gowns. She tells us:

I started the company when I was in my final year of college; I was selling recruitment apparel to sororities and I quickly realized that creating apparel for special events was my THING. I had begun sewing as a child and made all of my own gowns for homecoming, prom, and formals…and I liked to have fun with the designs and add some extra flair. I decided I wanted to shake things up and go a different route than anything out there with a direct-to-consumer model for bridesmaids and it spread like wildfire! The gowns ended up all over Pinterest with the iconic tulle skirts and spectacular sequins.

You go, girl! (You can read more about Michelle’s story here!)

How to Get Kiernan Shipka's Makeup Look on "Chilling Adventures of Sabrina"

Posted by [email protected] on Comments comments (0)

There were definitely a lot of questions leading up to Netflix’s release of Chilling Adventures of Sabrina Part 2 on Friday, April 5. And while we were wondering what was going to happen with the Dark Lord, Miss Wardwell, and that stolen baby (just to name a few), another burning question on our minds had to do with Sabrina herself…well, her makeup, that is.

The title character portrayed by Kiernan Shipka undoubtedly got a lot darker throughout the second installment, and naturally, her style reflected that. So many all-black outfits, so little time. Fortunately, we don’t need to cast any spells in order to replicate Sabrina’s beauty routine; the show’s head makeup artist Candice Stafford-Bridge recently divulged all of her witchy secrets to Allure, noting that even though Sabrina is rather magical, her entire makeup look is based on what a regular teenager might wear. “She can raise the dead, but I wanted to be true to a 16-year-old high school girl and make her makeup believable,” Stafford-Bridge told Allure.

Kiernan herself has a naturally pale complexion, and it was important to the makeup team to make sure that she looked “alive” but not like she hit up the beach or a spray tan salon on a regular basis. And in order to avoid pinning CAOS to any specific time period, Stafford-Bridge noted that they don’t use any trendy products like highlighting palettes, opting instead for a lavender-colored blush.

Of course, the most notable aspect of Sabrina’s makeup routine is her lipstick, which reflects her ~dark~ side. According to Stafford-Bridge, Kiernan typically wears deep browns and berries on her pout, with her favorite pick being Christian Louboutin’s Velvet Matte Lip Colour in Very Prive. The decadent tube will set you back $90, so in case you don’t know a spell for making money suddenly appear, we’ve rounded up some more affordable options below that will keep you looking just as magical as Sabrina herself.

A Royal Fairy Tale Wedding in Paris… with a Groom in a Cape!

Posted by [email protected] on Comments comments (0)

Public service announcement: This is the new base level for the kind of extra you need to be on your wedding day.

Riccardo and James married in Paris in the most over-the-top yet totally intimate and personal way. Their ceremony was held outside Le Petit Palais, an art museum, where they had a hand fasting ceremony officiated by Michelle Wahila of Ruffled by Grace.

Both men wore suits made by Sebastian Cruz, styled in their own unique way – and for James that meant faux flower epaulettes and the most dramatic groomal (is that a word?!) cape I’ve ever seen. It was designed and made by Alexandria Daniels (including the flowers) and the guys added the appliques and crystals. I’m going to start campaigning to see more men in capes please!

The couple met in LA, after James moved there from Huston and began hanging out at the bar where Riccardo worked. They were married in September and were inspired by their love of Paris for the day – so much so that, in the end, they just decided to fly there and do it properly! “It was actually so much easier, cheaper, and less stressful to have a destination wedding”, they said. “Also everything was cheaper than getting married at home. The cost of weddings in the US are so over-inflated. We only spent about 1/3 of what we would have spent in America.”

The ceremony itself was the main part of the day for them both, and the bit where they put the most thought into. “We arrived at the beautiful museum where our family and friends were already waiting”, they continued. “The violinist played A Thousand Years by Christina Perri as we walked down the aisle, and Michelle said such beautiful words. We began to say the vows that we wrote for one another and the tears started flowing. After we exchanged vows and rings, we had a hand fasting with beautiful jewelled cords. It was perfect.”

“Our advice to other couples is just to make sure you remember that your wedding day is for you and not everyone else”, they concluded. “Do exactly what makes you happy and keeps you comfortable financially. We were hands on with everything, and because of that we were able to get exactly what we wanted.”

A Promise To My Daughters

Posted by [email protected] on Comments comments (0)

This post is sponsored by JOHNSON’S®. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

Raising two little ones (under the age of 4) is no piece of cake. (Even though that does help at the end of some days.) But being their mom is one of my favorite things. And what I’ve realized is that using purposeful products makes the hard days simpler and the good days great!

It’s been really cool working with JOHNSON’S because they’ve recently revamped all of their products. My favorite thing about the revamp is that they’ve eliminated 50% of ingredients including sulfates and dyes and have been very intentional (and transparent) about the kind of fragrances they use. You’ll notice that most products (adult and baby alike) will vaguely only list “fragrance” in the ingredients list. Now, JOHNSON’S lists what is in that fragrance.

This is one of their 5 promises in their new mission. It really makes me feel confident when I use their products. Caliana has baby eczema and the products I use absolutely effect it. I have to moisturize her skin 2-3 times day and if the product doesn’t work for her () she will have a flare up. Using purposeful ingredients as her mom isn’t just a preference, it’s a priority.

For the longest time, I was only using coconut oil on her because everything else I had tried just wasn’t doing it. It would either cause a flare up or would leave an annoying sticky residue. Now, I pair the new  with coconut oil to make sure she’s moisturized. I do that once in the morning when she starts her day and again right after her bath. My favorite part about the is that it has fibers of cotton in the product to help it absorb in the skin and ensure it doesn’t leave any weird sticky residue. I use it on Maizah, too! Plus, the smell is so soft and joyful. Makes me want to use it on myself!

When we get ready to start our day or wrap up a hectic one during bath time, I don’t want to have to worry about a product I’m using. JOHNSON’S making a promise to use purposeful ingredients has made my job as a mom a lot easier when I select products for the girls for their daily routines.

One thing I always promise my girls to do is to use purposeful ingredients when taking care of them. And thanks to JOHNSON’S they’ve helped me fulfill said promise.
